Wood Fairy Farm: Permaculture Suburban Farm

About our Farm

We currently live on an acre and a half of land in the suburbs of Northern California.  Although we have so much space, much of that space is covered in trees and on a large hill.  Despite the landscape, we have turned about a half acre into a permaculture food forest.  We started our food forest about two years ago, so it is still in its infancy.  We grow a variety of fruit and nut trees, along with perennial and annual crops, and medicinal herbs. We just added a natural plunge pool to the farm to add plant and animal biodiversity, while provding us with a place to cool down.  We currently care for chickens, and honeybees, and hope to add a greenhouse, composting toilet, and a community built Cobb cottage for herbal medicine making in the coming months.  We hope to serve as somewhat of an inspiration to others who live in suburban areas (and cities too!), to begin to restore the ecosystems in their own backyards. We want to bring soil health back, restore biodiversity, and at the same time provide nutritive food for our family.  Permaculture allows us to to do all of this.  We hope to keep you updated on our suburban farm progress on this page!
